Frequently asked questions
How does the baby sleep calculator work?
It uses the typical wake window range for your baby's age, the time awake between sleeps, which grows through the day. From the wake-up time it places each nap, gives it a typical length for the age, and sets bedtime after the last and longest window, adjusted so bedtime lands in the usual range for that age. These are the same age ranges the Hushly app starts from.
Is the schedule right for my baby?
It is a sensible starting point, not a prescription. Babies of the same age can differ by 30 minutes or more in how long they manage awake. Watch your baby's sleepy cues and adjust by 10 to 15 minutes at a time. The Hushly app does this automatically after a handful of logged naps.
What if a nap is shorter or longer than planned?
Everything after that nap moves. Count the next wake window from when your baby actually woke up. A short last nap usually means an earlier bedtime.
Which age should I enter for a premature baby?
Use corrected age: your baby's age counted from the due date rather than the birth date. Most pediatricians recommend corrected age for sleep and development until about two years.
Does the calculator save my information?
No. The plan is calculated on your device, in your browser. The age and wake-up time you enter are not saved, not sent anywhere and gone when you close the page.
Do the times include falling asleep?
The times are when your baby is asleep. Start winding down 10 to 15 minutes earlier: a short routine, a dark room and a calm voice.
